Featured Artist: Kenshiro Suzuki

Unlike the common posts showing my drawings, sketches and paintings, this time I wanted to post something new.
Here is a great artist who is really a point of reference for me. Both his paintings and especially his sculptures are truly a treasure! I'm taking of Kenshiro Suzuki. In the below video you will see his creations... his fantasy has no limits. His dragons are really unique!

Here are some photos of his great sculptures:

Faun Sketch

This is a fantasy creature sketch inspired by a film called: Pan's Labyrinth (Guillermo Del Toro).
This one was done on paper then enhanced it with Photoshop.

Cyborg Sketch

I did this with traditional pencil and pencil colours. I kept the main focus on the upper part of it. Also one can notice that there is less colour and less information on the lower part of the drawing.

It's a new style that I'm still discovering... but it looks pretty cool!

Tiger Head - Watercolours : Finished

Some time ago I posted a painting I was doing with watercolours. It's been a while but I finished it and here's the finished compostion.

Notice how subtle and low the value is on the background tiger, as I wanted to keep the main focus on the tiger head. Since there's a high contrast, naturally one's attention will fall on it!

Hawk Sketch

I found this one which I did at school a while back. It was quite a good approach.

I did it with Aquarelli Pencil colours, and applied a layer of water to blend certain areas.

Paper Drawings II

Here is a drawing I did lately on paper (no digital). This one is a quick sketch I did in a couple of minutes with a common pen (one I use only for drawing). I think it's cool with it's subtle values (considering the little time spent on it!).

Paper Drawings

Here is something done with traditional ink. I treid to make as less values as possible. Notice (especially on the first one) that it's only Black & White. Comics use this method a lot, it's a good pracitce too.

1. Death

2. Some undead/ humanoids.

Fantasy Creature Sketch II

Here's another creature I did. Like my previous post, it's something I did without reference or anything else... just flow with the pen!

Again, you can notice that there is a balance of cool and warm tones and a focal point towards the head.

I didn't spend much time on it... around an hour or so (considering that I had to tweak here and there since nothing was planned).

Peace!

Fantasy Creature Sketch

Here is another Creature sketch I did. I focalized on the upper part of it and tried to mantain a balanced cool and warm tonality onto the overall sketch.

I'm quite satisfied as I got what I had in mind. Here it is:
